Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan – May 4, 2024 – A meeting of leading non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Sindh was convened in Hyderabad to establish the Sindh Network, a unified platform aimed at advancing sustainable development initiatives across the province.
Comprising 11 prominent organizations including the Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP), DevCon – An Association for Rural Development , Sami Foundation, PVDP Sindh, HANDS Pakistan,
Management & Development Foundation (MDF), Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child ( SPARC),Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO)
Goth Seengar Foundation, Laar Humanitarian and Development Programme (LHDP), and Indus Consortium, the Sindh Network signifies a pivotal step towards promoting collaboration and synergy among civil society organizations dedicated to Sindh’s progress.
Chaired by Mr. Noor Muhammad Bajeer, CEO of CSSP, the meeting focused on establishing the governance structure of the network, which included the election of an executive committee. Each participating organization had the opportunity to vote for candidates to form a 7-member Executive Committee (EC). Following the election, the executive committee positions were filled as follows: DevCon was elected as the Secretary of the Sindh Network, CSSP was elected as the Coordinator, and Sami Foundation was elected as the Deputy Coordinator of the Network. Additionally, the Working Committee of the Executive Committee was elected, composed of four members including MDF, HANDS, SPARC, and PVDP. During the meeting, important strategic decisions were made regarding the formal launch, roles, responsibilities, and future action points of the network. Amidst the multifaceted socio-economic challenges facing Sindh, the Sindh Network emerges as a timely initiative to provide a platform for collective action and mutual support among civil society organizations, promoting collaboration and collective impact for the progress of the province.
